Commerce

This subject was introduced at the very inception of this college i.e. in 1964. It was a major faculty in the beginning and for above 60 years. This department has a larger number of students than Arts faculty. It was one of the biggest dept. having 6 full time lecturers in the beginning. In course of time the strength of the faculty member reduced due to superannuation or death of the Senior staff member of the college. At present there are three full time professors working in this department.

Our college was started in 1964 with Arts and Commerce faculty. Earlier a large number of students were inclined to offer commerce faculty and as a result the commerce faculty has greater strength than the arts faculty. A large number of undergraduate students after passing their B.Com. Final Examination had to give up their chase for post-graduation studies due to financial constraints as they had to go either to Nagpur or Gondia for their post-graduation studies. Moreover, there was a large number of pass out students from our college who were dined the opportunities to continue their higher studies as there was not a single post graduate college within the area. There was a pressing and persistent demand from the students to starts postgraduate classes in our college. Many of the students had launched a signature campaign to this effect. Our Management and the founder principal of the college insightfully realised this difficulty of the students and felt the need to start postgraduate classes in the faculty of commerce. The resolution to this effect was taken and the college decided to apply for continuation of M.Com. classes to fulfil the pressing demand of the students.

The college started the course from the academic session 1985-86 with good positive response from the students.
