Shikshan Maharshi Late Parshurampant Govindbapu Alias Bapusaheb Lakhanikar, the Founder of Rashtriya Shikshan Sanstha did Herculean task to fetch the upsurge of education in eastern region of Vidarbh. He opened the doors of education right from the Primary education to Post Graduation. He made available the education facility in Lakhani, Palandur, Salebhata area of Bhandara District as well as in the remote areas of Chichgarh in Gondia District. In 1964 he established Samarth Mahavidyala in Lakhani. Built a separate well facilitated building for the college. The college gained the immense popularity owing to its educational qualities, and advancing in the field of education and skill development among the students.

The college is ready to face the Third Cycle of NAAC accreditation. The Rashtriya Shikshan Sanstha is committed to the overall development of the students through its Samarth Mahavidyalaya Lakhani.
